Women Empowerment Cell
As per the guidelines of Supreme Court, UGC and in pursuance of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace and (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, Ahmedabad Institute of Business Management constituted a Sexual Harassment Cell to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere to all the employees and students and to consider complaints regarding sexual harassment. The institution strongly believes sexual harassment against a woman is a violation of the fundamental rights of women to equality.Under the Act, the meaning of sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behaviour, whether directly or by implication:
- Physical contact and advances; or
- A demand or request for sexual favours; or
- Making sexually coloured remarks; or
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
OBJECTIVE:
- To receive and redress complaints from any members of the college alleging sexual harassment by any person in the college campus
- To provide a neutral, confidential and supportive environment for members of the campus community who may have been sexually harassed
- To ensure fair and timely resolution of sexual harassment complaints
- To promote awareness about sexual harassment through educational initiatives that encourages and fosters a respectful and safe campus environment
- Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the violators depending on the nature and extent of injury caused.
- To ensure safe environments for all students and employees in the college.
GUIDELINES:
- Complaint Redressal: As per the act ‘The Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013’, appropriate action will be taken once the complaint is filed.
- Counselling: Confidential counselling service is an important service as the sexual harassment cases are rarely reported and are a sensitive issue. Counselling provides a safe space to speak about the incident and how it has affected the aggrieved woman.
- Punishment for false complaint: If the Internal Committee arrives at a conclusion that the allegation against the respondent is malicious/ false or misleading it may recommend to the competent authority to act against the person who has made the false complaint.
Grievance Redressal Cell
To provide an institution of justice in the college, the college has formed a committee under the
name and title “Grievance Redressal Cell” which aims to investigate the complaints lodged by
any student & employee and redress it as per requirement. The students can state their grievance
regarding any academic and non- academic matter within the campus in the grievance/
suggestion box. The cell aims a speedy solution of grievances caused during the college hours
and within the college campus.
OBJECTIVES:
The functions of Grievance Redressal Cell are as follows –
(i) Look into grievances of students and other college staff.
(ii) Redressal of grievances.
NATURE OF GRIEVANCE:
Grievance may be related to-
- Timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets, Transfer Certificates, Conduct Certificates or
other examination and scholarship related matters. - Certain misgivings about conditions of sanitation, preparation of food, availability of
transport, victimization by teachers and any other offensive activity. - Any personal problem
- Violation of any academic rule and discipline and
- Any dispute.
